Creativity and Spontaneity as a Therapeutic Tool: Using psychodrama to empower clients to move towards growth by confronting the fear that holds them back

Psychodrama is a form of evidenced-based therapy for the treatment of trauma and other mental health concerns that emphasizes the healing power of human connection. The concepts of Creativity and Spontaneity are the key mechanisms for change in psychodrama theory and practice. In this experiential workshop, participants will learn the basic history and theory of psychodrama and the ways in which helping clients access creativity and spontaneity helps them get unstuck and move forward in a strength-based, trauma-informed approach to healing.  Attendee participation will be encouraged in this action-based workshop to demonstrate psychodrama interventions that can be used in both individual and group therapy such as doubling, role reversal, sculpting, and more.

Hit Refresh on Your Supervision Sessions with Psychodrama

This workshop will focus on learning some basic psychodramatic tools to implement with supervisees to develop their clinical skills. We will engage in a didactic portion explaining the basics of psychodrama and providing resource articles on the Charter of Pyschodrama and The Social Atom. We will then facilitate an experiential exercise in which participants explore their own career roles and identify areas that they would like to move into. Participants will then be able to psychodramatically role reverse with their roles to identify intrapsychic conflict or blocks keeping them from fully moving into the roles they would like.
